Our Story
Sovereign City Church was planted with a deep love for Las Vegas and a clear sense of calling. We believe this city matters to God. Beyond the bright lights and big headlines, Las Vegas is filled with people searching for meaning, hope, and something real.

After having lived in the Las Vegas area for four years and falling in love with the city and the people, we prayed, sought wise counsel, and it became unmistakably clear that God was leading us to plant a church here. Not to build something flashy or temporary, but to establish something rooted, faithful, and lasting. Our heart is to see the rule and reign of Jesus take root in every corner of the city, in homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, and hearts.

Sovereign City exists to share God’s love and invite others to live under His reign. We are here to reach those far from God, awaken those who may know religion but not grace, and equip every follower of Jesus to live on mission and make disciples.

This is not just where we landed. This is where God has clearly called us.
Meet Our Pastor
Pastor Ricky and
Rosie Harris
Ricky, a Southern boy, and Rosie, a Midwest girl, met in 2008 while serving together at an inner-city sports camp. What began as a shared passion for the least of these quickly grew into a shared life centered on Jesus and living on mission. They were married in 2011 and have spent the years since serving the church, loving people, and following God’s leading wherever it has taken them. Their journey has included seasons in Memphis and Durham, and now Las Vegas—a city they never expected to call home, yet one God clearly placed on their hearts.

Before planting Sovereign City Church, Ricky and Rosie made a commitment to become true Las Vegans. They chose to live among the people, learn the rhythms of the city, and love it well. Alongside their two children, Tripp and Rhian, the Harris family is all in—leveraging every part of their story for the sake of the Gospel.
Our Mission
We exist to share God’s love and invite others to live under His reign.
Our Vision
We long to see Las Vegas transformed by the Gospel as people encounter Jesus, experience true life, and live surrendered under His rule. Our prayer is simple yet bold: that God’s kingdom would come and His will would be done in Las Vegas as it is in heaven.
Our Values

God Confidence

We rely fully on God, not ourselves. Our confidence comes from His power, His calling, and His faithfulness.

Family Matters

The church is a family, not a building. Every generation belongs, every story matters, and relationships are central.

Radical Generosity

We live open-handed lives, joyfully giving our time, resources, and love for the sake of God’s kingdom.

Kingdom Advancement

Everything we do is about more than us. We exist to see lives changed, disciples made, and the Gospel multiplied.
What We Believe
We believe in one God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe the Bible is God’s Word, true and trustworthy, and the final authority for faith and life. We believe salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone through grace by faith, not by works.

We believe the church is God’s plan to bring hope to the world and that every believer is called to live on mission. We believe Jesus is King and that His kingdom is advancing even now.

We believe that the gospel is the central truth of the Bible, the foundation of our faith, and the purpose for the Christian life. The gospel is the good news of the kingdom of God. That while we were dead in our sin, God sent his Son Jesus to live a perfect life on our behalf, die a substitutionary death to pay the penalty for our sin, and rise again from the grave on the third day to offer us new life in His Spirit. (1 Cor. 15:3–15, Acts 2:22–2:39, 2 Cor. 5:21)

We believe that God is the Creator of everything and that He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4, Matt. 3:16–17, Matt. 28:19)

We believe the Bible to be God’s Holy Word, a true and fully accurate account of God’s love for us. Its purpose is to teach us how to have a relationship with Him, worship Him, and bring Him glory. (Ps. 19:7–10, 2 Tim. 3:15–17, 2 Pet. 1:19–21)

We believe that God created us in His image to worship Him and give Him complete glory. This is true of both men and women, who are equal and complementary partners in God's mission and reflect His beauty, goodness, and creativity. (Gen. 1:26–27, Isa. 43:7, Gal. 3:28)

We believe that sin has kept us from knowing God and worshiping Him, but that Jesus’ death on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin, His physical resurrection, and His offer of restored relationship with God are a free gift to all who believe in Him. (John 3:16, Acts 2:22–39, Rom. 3:21–24)

We believe that the church is not a building but a people—the body of Christ on earth and a movement of disciple-making disciples. As such, every believer should be identified with a local church for the purpose of mutual encouragement, spiritual growth, and accountability. (Matt. 16:18, Col. 1:18–20, Eph. 4:11–16)

We believe that baptism by immersion is a church ordinance that represents a person’s first public act of confession, repentance, and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. (1 Pet. 3:21, Acts 2:38–41, Matt. 3:6)

We believe that God cares about the needs of all people and that the church, as Christ’s body, is to show His love and care for others. Every member of the church is sent out by Jesus as a minister of the gospel—to declare the love of Christ with what we say and how we live. We demonstrate the love of Christ not only in our communities, but also to the farthest and most unreached places of the world. (Matt. 28:18–20, Acts 1:7-8, Matt.4:19)
